"This is so obnoxious," muttered the writer under his breath.
"One day though," whispered an omnipresent voice, "you'll have nothing to say at all."

And so
The writer wrote

Until one day his pen ran dry and his fingers ached to a degree beyond ignoring.

"Finally," he thought to himself, "I can close my eyes."

And a moment passed. The same sun was rising. He opened his eyes and there were no words. Only images. Images he had imagined when his eyes closed.

Each story becoming his life.

And so
He followed the pattern
Of justification

Each night, when his pen ran dry, he had nothing left to do. But wait. Wait for his eyes to close and his pen to rest. Wait for his dream to rise and fall with each breath. It was and still is a constant battle of waiting for the story to become the life.

And so
The writer waits
Just like the rest of us

HWJD?

Someone put a button on me without my knowledge. It said "Vote Pro-Choice". A woman came up to me in a bar and asked why I was pro-choice. I thought this was a random drunk woman with a random question for a random person, and I had no intention of getting into a political discussion at this time of the evening, especially after having a couple drinks. So I responded, "because I like loose bitches." She walked away and didn't look happy. So I thought of a new button I need to make: "I vote pro-choice because I like loose women." It may miss the point, but Momma alwaysa said honesty is the best policy.

I also thought of a wristband I should market. Remember those "WWJD" bracelets, What Would Jesus Do? I want to make a bracelet with the letters "HWJD." How Would Jesus Dance?

When a tree falls in the forest, is there a hippie around to complain?

I tried writing between two trees
Once
To see if I would be better heard
But
The creaking of each tree distracted my thought
So
I couldn’t focus on the problem at hand

Now
When I look back from my desk’s lamp
I
Find that most thoughts I have
Lose
Themselves between those two trees
Unheard
In a forest that cannot see
Through
The leaves that cover its eyes

Windows Framed in Stale Oak

You knocked on my door and I answered with a smile.

I invited you in but you said,
“No…Thank you.”

Now the rocks you throw echo off my windows

Desperately expecting my attention

But this book I’m reading

This chair I’m sitting in

It’s too comfortable

To be rearranged to fit your needs

Now we sit on my front porch and watch the stale fireworks reflect through the pale

moon as the rain starts to fall

We’ll jump in every puddle that forms to forget everything we could have had would

have been nothing at all

And it will never end

Manifesto of Social NetWorkings

For a while now
Everything to me has become connected
Nietzsche and his nihilistic view
Where nothing is connected and there are no coincidences
Has been proven in favor of another opinion

Not even by the free flow of information
Or tabloids, magazines, television, newspapers

No
His theory was deflated by something that is not tangible. We can see it’s silhouette reflecting back at us. Its simple clicks and abrev. words, no time to spell out simple gestures. It’s a reality waiting for you to sign up and sign in.

The password to the world around you is at your finger tips.

Its an existential viewpoint, where we are all one
And where the being that guides us can now save His documents

I’ll see you without seeing me and it’s like meeting each other for the first time but not really.

It’s knowing my name and us never meeting.
It’s pictures on the wall and places we haven’t been.

These things now
These still moments of our lives
Now shared and superconnected
And recently, they’ve come to the palms of our hands
The world around us passes by while we wonder what we’re missing out on
So sign in to the world you used to know

Call everyone all the time so they know what you’re doing
Let them validate your existence

Co-dependently independent of one another
Superconnected when all we need to do is leave this behind

It’s being a phone call away that makes us so lonely
When no one is calling
Or signing up
Or signing in
That is when you know we are all connected but no one is saying anything.

The Dismemberment Plan - The City

When I First heard “The City” by The Dismemberment Plan I remember walking down the streets of Chicago in inebriated bliss with my best friends. It was the third of July and we had nothing to be afraid of. Our glazed stares and false intuitions leading us to believe this is what our country died for. As we neared Michigan Avenue I realized this was not the day, nor the place to contemplate the way we are. But with this head of mine it could not be ignored. I took a blurred look at my reflection off the Nike Town windows and found I was lost. Not metaphorically, but literally. I had become too entrenched in my own thoughts to see the group had passed me by and not even stopped to ask what it was I was looking at.
As the sun set and the streetlights began to hum, I could feel the anticipation rising. The moon had shown itself and its reflection in Lake Michigan reminded me of the thoughts I had while staring at the window. As I gently gathered what it was I had been trying to say, my thoughts were interrupted by the sounds and colors of freedom. I look to see the one I’d been trying to find all night. I lie down next to her in front of the Buckingham Fountain and rest my head on her stomach. She felt familiar and the patterns of her breath changed with each passing explosion. I lose focus on the fireworks and turn my attention to her gaze. Her stare in awe and disbelief. She watched me watching her and our heartbeats assumed the haunting bass was coming from the noise above our heads.
I sat up and realized what my thoughts had been missing: direction. She caught my eye and I turned to face her. The grand finale, reflecting everything it was I tried to say that night.

Cosmos

And after
This is over
We’ll just pretend
It never happened
